Johnson Wen, an Australian known on social media as “The Pajama Man” and who describes himself as a “troll,” was formally charged on Friday with disorderly conduct after rushing at singer and actress Ariana Grande during the yellow carpet event for the Asian premiere of 'Wicked: For Good' on Thursday at Universal Studios Singapore.

The incident, captured in numerous videos by attendees and quickly going viral, shows Grande interacting with fans and signing autographs while holding hands with her co-star, Michelle Yeoh.

At one point, Wen abruptly pushes aside photographers, runs toward the artist, and hugs her, leaving her “visibly stunned.”

The reaction was immediate

Cynthia Erivo, who was also part of the group and holding Yeoh's other hand, lunged at Wen to pull him away, while event security rushed to intervene.

After the scuffle, Yeoh and Erivo surrounded Grande to protect her before the cast resumed their walk down the carpet. Wen was escorted out by security, though a TikTok video revealed he attempted to approach Grande a second time but was intercepted before he could. According to BBC reports, Wen, who was not represented by legal counsel during his court appearance, could face a fine of up to 2,000 Singapore dollars (approximately US$1,540) if convicted. Far from showing remorse, Wen posted a video of the incident on his Instagram profile, thanking the star in the caption: “Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump on the yellow carpet with you,” he wrote alongside a heart emoji. In a subsequent message to NBC News, he described himself as a “mega fan” and declared, “I dreamed of meeting her and now my dreams have come true.”The outlet noted that Wen did not respond to questions about the negative online reaction or the possibility that she may have frightened Grande. The reaction on social media was swift, with fans and Grande's own co-star strongly condemning Wen's actions. Fans of the singer expressed their outrage, recalling the trauma the artist has carried since the bombing at her Manchester concert in 2017 and her openness about her anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.
