Millie Bobby Brown, the actress who rose to fame with 'Stranger Things', showed once again that she is not willing to remain silent in the face of what she considers unfair treatment by the media.

At the London premiere of the fifth season And in the final season of the series, an awkward moment captured on video went viral: after being instructed on how to pose, Brown firmly responded, “Smile? You smile!” before walking away, visibly annoyed. This incident is not an isolated event in the actress's career, who at 21 has been in the public eye for over a decade. Brown used her platform to speak openly about the challenges of growing up in front of the cameras and the boundaries she sets in her dealings with the press. What has Brown said? “I started in this industry when I was 10 years old,” Brown recalled in an Instagram video. “I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people don't seem to grow up with me. Instead, they act as if I should be frozen in time.” This pressure to remain unchanged has made her, in her own words, a “target of criticism.” Her statements to British Vogue were even more forceful. The actress denounced how tabloid headlines “dissect my face, my body, and my choices,” going so far as to describe these practices as a form of “harassment.” To illustrate her point, she read aloud some of the cruelest comments: “My God, what has she done to her face? Why did she dye her hair blonde? She looks 60!”

Brown clarified that she is not against journalism itself—which she defines as a profession she respects and values—but against the line it crosses into personal attacks.

“I understand that paparazzi exist, even though it’s an invasion of privacy; I know it’s their job. But don’t attack me right from the start in the headline,” she explained.

“It’s very unfair and a form of harassment, especially for young women starting out in this industry who already question everything,” she stated. The Netflix series, Stranger Things, will premiere this coming November 26th.
