From Katihar in Bihar, the police fired on the raging crowd. A young man died in this. The condition of two people there is serious. Although the villagers are talking about the death of two people, but the police have so far confirmed only one death. There was a stir in the area after the incident. There was a crowd of people around. People are raising slogans against the police-administration. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area. Police say a dozen policemen and electricity department personnel were injured in the mob attack. All the injured are undergoing treatment.
Police fired in the air to control the crowd
The incident is of Barsoi police station area of Katihar district. It is being told that in Barsoi sub-division, people angry with the attitude of the electricity department had reached to lay siege to the block headquarters at quarter to three. People were protesting by blocking the main road of Pranpur's Bastoul Chowk and Barsoi block headquarters. Suddenly people became furious. To control which the police first lathicharged and then started firing in the air. After this action of the police, the crowd became more furious and started chasing the police. The police fired in defence. Three people got shot in this. One of the youth died on the spot. The condition of two people there is serious.
Leader of Opposition said – Grand Alliance government has lost the right to remain in power
Leader of Opposition Vijay Sinha condemned the incident and protested against the Bihar government. He said that the Bihar government is suppressing the voice of the people with the help of sticks and guns. On July 13, BJP workers were mercilessly lathicharged. Today in Katihar, bullets were fired at the people who came on the road demanding electricity. There should be a judicial inquiry into this matter. This government has become a victim of complete administrative anarchy. There is no justification for this government to continue in power. If someone questions their corruption and crime, they have to face lathi and bullets. Such a government is not in the interest of democracy. The grand alliance government has lost the right to remain in power.
The crowd drove the police
Here, soon after getting the information of the incident, Katihar SP reached the spot and got involved in the investigation. The SP asked to get the matter investigated. He said that it took a lot of effort to convince the crowd through talks first. But, he did not agree and started clashing with the police. Not only this, the crowd also made the police run. In the end, the police had to resort to aerial firing to control the situation. According to the villagers, the deceased has been identified as Khurshid Alam, 34, a resident of Vasal village in Barsoi sub-division. On the other hand, the injured has been identified as 32-year-old Niyaz Alam, a resident of Chapakhod Panchayat of Barsoi. The identity of the third injured is being ascertained.
