Cam Little, kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Sam Darnold, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, made history in the NFL record books with their respective performances in Week 9 of the season.

Little broke the record for the longest field goal of all time with a 68-yard kick he made on Sunday earlier in the Jaguars' 29-30 overtime victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

His field goal broke the 66-yard record, which had belonged to Justin Tucker, former kicker for the Baltimore Ravens, since 2021.

Cam Little is a 22-year-old player who entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick in 2024 by the Jaguars, a team with which he has shown his reliability in two seasons with 40 successful field goals on 46 attempts. He has an 87 percent success rate.

Since his time in college football, where he triumphed with the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Moore, Oklahoma native has shown himself to be the best prospect among kickers of his generation.

He finished his time with the Razorbacks with an 82.8 percent success rate, the highest in Arkansas history.

In the preseason last August, he had already showcased the power of his right leg by connecting on a 70-yard field goal in the game his team lost 31-25 to the Steelers.

His feat was not recorded in the NFL record books because it was a preseason game.

Last season, in his rookie year, Little made 27 of 29 field goals. The longest was 59 yards. The previous Sunday's 68-yard field goal was his first 60-plus-yard attempt in the NFL.

Sam Darnold's Feat

Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold also etched his name alongside NFL legends thanks to his performance in his team's 38-14 victory over the Washington Commanders.

In the first half of that game, Darnold completed all 16 of his pass attempts for 282 yards and four touchdowns, one on each of his first offensive series, something no quarterback had accomplished since Tom Brady, considered the greatest player in NFL history, did it with the New England Patriots in 2007.

That wasn't all.Sam finished the game with 330 yards, 21 completions, only three incomplete passes, the four touchdowns mentioned, and was not sacked, something that in the Super Bowl era, dating back to the 1966 season, was only achieved by Johnny Unitas, Baltimore Colts legend and Hall of Famer, in the 49-7 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in November 1967.

In that game, Unitas passed for 370 yards, completed 17 of 20 passes, and scored four touchdowns; He wasn't sacked either.

Sam Darnold, who entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick in 2018 by the New York Jets, has played for the Panthers, 49ers, and Vikings, the team with which he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2014.

He landed this season in Seattle, a team he has in first place in the NFC West with six wins and two losses.

Head coach Mike Macdonald, who arrived in Seattle last year, bet on the 28-year-old quarterback to lead the Seahawks to the playoffs for the first time under his leadership, and so far, he hasn't disappointed.
