Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner: US Open final with the ATP number one at stake
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will face each other again in a Grand Slam final after Roland Garros and Wimbledon
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will face each other in the final of a Grand Slam for the third consecutive time, in a clash that will not only decide the title, but also the leadership of the ATP ranking.
The Spaniard arrives in the best moment of his career, after winning eight consecutive finals, and is looking to add the sixth Grand Slam to his list of achievements to return to the top of the world rankings.
Sinner, meanwhile, will try to break the negative trend against the Murcian and add his second major, after narrowly defeating Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals.
Alcaraz defeats Djokovic and seeks glory
Alcaraz, 22 years old and number two in the world, signed a brilliant victory in the semi-finals by defeating Novak Djokovic in three sets (6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2), confirming his candidacy to the tennis throne. With aggressive tennis and an extraordinary physical level, Juan Carlos Ferrero's pupil showed why he is considered the natural heir to the Serbian.
Sinner, with physical doubts but determined
The Italian, 24 years old, beat Auger-Aliassime (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4) in a match that was more complicated than expected, conditioned by abdominal discomfort that, according to him, will not prevent him from competing at his best in the final.
It will be the seventh final between both tennis players, with Alcaraz leading in the head-to-head (9-5) and a 4-2 record in finals. The Spaniard has won the last three events in 2025: Roland Garros, Rome, and Cincinnati.
The Spaniard will be looking to win his second title in the United States after the 2022 US Open, while Sinner wants to make a statement that will allow him to stop his great rival's winning streak.
