A goal from Portuguese striker Andre da Silva in the first minutes of the match allowed Elche, unbeaten in their return to LaLiga, to extend their idyllic start to the competition against a Real Oviedo that was from less to more, but who continue without adding as a visitor and who, at the moment, find themselves sunk in the 17th place, one away from the relegation zone.

In the duel between newly promoted, the Elche team was superior in the overall match, but could not finish despite having clear chances and ended up suffering to maintain their advantage against a rival who improved notably after the entry of Santi Cazorla

The match started with a scare for Elche. A poor pass from Rafa Mir to his defender left Salomon Rondon one-on-one with Inaki Pena, but the Venezuelan crossed the ball too far into an empty net.

Watch the play and the summary here.

The action spurred on the Elche team, who for the next few minutes were a whirlwind in the Asturian area with an inspired Rodrigo Mendoza leading the attacking actions.

With Elche in full pressure, Valera reached the byline and sent the ball to the far post, where the Portuguese Andre da Silva passed it into the net to open the scoring.

After a 15-minute of full-throttle play, Elche took a breather and ceded the initiative to Oviedo, who began to dominate possession, although with little depth.

The only player who broke Oviedo's flat script was Hassan, but his individual adventures did not culminate in anything positive for his team.

The home side accelerated again in the final stretch of the first half, in which Aaron showed his reflexes to save the second goal after a ball combed by Affengruber.

Oviedo reached the break against the ropes against a dynamic and direct Elche that almost always found a way to break the pressure of their rival in the midfield.

The break in the changing rooms did not reverse the dynamic of the match.Elche continued to have the initiative and came very close to scoring a second goal when Da Silva and Mir doubled the chance, but Aaron thwarted it.

The home side came close to scoring again when Rafa Mir shot from Josan's cross, which hit the crossbar with the Real Oviedo goalkeeper already beaten.

Paunovic tried to revive his team with the introduction of Ilyas and Cazorla, to the cheers of the Elche fans, and Oviedo gained clarity in their attacking game.

Rondon, after a lack of coordination between Affengruber and Pena, came close to equalizing, but the Venezuelan, with an empty goal, was left with no space to finish.

The Asturian team, led by Cazorla in midfield, began to create chances, such as a shot from Ilyas that went over the bar and another from Fores that Pena saved.

Real Oviedo came close to equalizing 13 minutes from time, but Fores' goal was ruled out by the referee for offside at the start of the play.

Eder Sarabia sensed danger and refreshed his team with several defensive changes that helped them protect the scoreboard despite the attacks of a Real Oviedo that never stopped trying.
