The Los Angeles City Council authorized $450,000 to hire a consultant to assist in the development of a new structure to address the homeless crisis.
The City Council's intention is to become independent from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).
With 14 votes in favor and none against, the council approved a motion by President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, which proposes instructing the city manager to hire an expert consultant.
