FDA announces recall of Utz potato fries due to salmonella risk
The recalled foods belong to the Zapp's and Dirty brands from manufacturer Utz Quality Foods
This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) announced consumers about a recall of Utz potato chips due to a high risk of salmonella contamination.
According to the health entity, the recall is packaged chips from the brand Zapp’s and Dirty from the manufacturer Utz Quality Foods, which reported that the food contains a powdered milk-based seasoning from a third-party supplier, which could have the bacteria.
So far, neither the FDA nor the manufacturer have received reports of people becoming ill due to consumption of this product; however, the agency warned that consumers “These foods should not be consumed and should be discarded,” he said and specified here which the products recalled from the market with their expiration dates and UPC code.
In the statement, the FDA reported that “salmonella is a microorganism that can cause serious and,sometimes,fatal,infections. Infected people They present fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain and even cause more serious diseases, such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.”
