According to data published this Tuesday by the United States Department of Labor, job offers for the month of June fell to 7.4 million from the 7.5 million registered in May.
However, the sector continues to appear strong in the face of the economic impact generated by the escalation of violence in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused higher energy prices and great uncertainty in the markets.
However, details of the report highlight that, although the pace of hiring slowed, some vacancies increased in areas such as transportation and public services, warehousing companies and government agencies, so the number of people hired during June increased slightly to 5.3 million.
On the other hand, the entity indicated that the level of layoffs remained unchanged compared to May, registering about 1.8 million, although the number of people who resigned did increase slightly.
In recent months, the majority of layoffs have been observed in companies in the technology sector due to a strong investment in artificial intelligence in their operational processes and reduction of operational expenses.
Finally, the official employment report for the month of July is expected this Friday, where an increase of 100,000 new jobs and an unemployment rate also above 4% is expected.
