The average price of the dollar in Mexico today is $17.38 pesos per unit. During the previous session, the Mexican peso registered a gain of 0.21%, favored by a lower strength of the dollar in international markets.
The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) reported that the official closing of the dollar corresponding to Wednesday, June 10, was $17.4061 pesos per unit, a figure calculated based on the average of operations carried out by banking institutions. According to Dow Jones data, at the opening this Thursday the US currency was quoted at $17.39 Mexican pesos. This represents a decrease of 0.13% compared to the previous close of $17.42 pesos per currency.
In a broader perspective, the dollar accumulates a weekly advance of 0.61%. However, compared to the same period last year, it registered a drop of 6.63%, reflecting the strength that the Mexican peso has maintained in recent months.
On the other hand, the volatility of the exchange rate is currently located at 7.55%, slightly below the reference volatility of 7.59%. This indicator shows that the exchange market continues to show movements, although without episodes of high uncertainty.
Banxico also announced that the FIX exchange rate published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) for this Thursday was established at $17.3898 pesos per dollar. Likewise, the exchange rate for the payment of obligations denominated in US dollars was set at $17.4312 pesos per unit.
The FIX is used as a reference in various financial and commercial operations. Its calculation is made based on the average of the prices observed in the wholesale exchange market during banking business days.
