Another immigrant dies after shooting at an ICE center in Dallas, received eight shots
A 32-year-old Mexican man was in a coma for several days, chained to his hospital bed, his family revealed
Miguel Angel Garcia-Hernandez, 32, died after several days in a coma. He was one of the victims of the shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, on September 24.
Gacia Hernandez was shot eight times during the September 24 attack and was taken to Parkland Hospital in critical condition.
Due to his critical condition and the inability to recover, the man was taken off life support, said the organization LULAC, who has been helping the family.
“I am raising funds for my sister and her husband, Miguel Angel Garcia. He was a victim of the shooting at the ICE facility in Dallas. He is in serious condition. He is the sole support for his family, including his children, his wife, and his soon-to-be-born baby,” reads one GoFundMe fundraising account. "The money we raised is to cover Miguel's medical expenses and also to help my sister, his wife, with the consequences of potentially losing her home and livelihood. The money will also go toward covering the costs of her urgently needed baby." LULAC shared a message from Garcia-Hernandez's wife regarding her partner's passing. “My husband, Miguel, was a good man, a loving father, and the breadwinner of our family,” said Stephany Gauffeny. "We had just purchased our first home, and he worked very hard every day to ensure our children had what they needed. His death is an inexplicable tragedy that has devastated our family. I don't know how to explain to our children that their father is no longer with us," she added.
The other fatality was Norlan Guzman-Fuentes, 37, who was in ICE custody after being handed over by local authorities.
This was confirmed to this newspaper by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at its request.
“Norlan Guzman-Fuentes, 37, while in ICE custody, suffered a fatal gunshot wound in a tragic and senseless sniper attack at the ICE regional office in Dallas,” the report states. “Guzman was an undocumented migrant from El Salvador, detained by ICE after collaborating with local authorities.”
Jose Andres Bordones-Molina, another of the victims, was released from the hospital.
