BSP Revokes Ticket of Mainpuri Candidate Amid Post-Distribution Turmoil
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) cancels the ticket of Gulshan Dev Shakya from Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, indicating post-ticket distribution upheaval. New candidate announcement expected soon.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has joined the ranks of parties facing post-ticket distribution turmoil, following in the footsteps of the Samajwadi Party (SP). In a recent development, BSP has revoked the ticket of Gulshan Dev Shakya, who was slated to contest from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. Sources reveal that BSP will soon announce an alternative candidate for Mainpuri, having halted Gulshan Dev Shakya from filing his nomination. Additionally, Shakya has been summoned to Lucknow by the party leadership.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated UP government minister Jaiveer Singh for the Mainpuri seat. Singh formally submitted his nomination at the Collectorate last Monday. Dimple Yadav, wife of former CM Akhilesh Yadav, is set to enter the fray as the Samajwadi Party candidate, with her nomination filing scheduled for today. Akhilesh Yadav is expected to accompany her during this crucial event.
Notably, Dimple Yadav currently holds the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party. However, the BJP has intensified its efforts to wrest control of this constituency. In a surprising turn of events, Aparna Yadav, a BJP leader and relative of Akhilesh Yadav, campaigned against her own sister-in-law Dimple Yadav in Mainpuri, expressing confidence in her defeat.
The Samajwadi Party has witnessed several changes in its candidates across various Lok Sabha seats, including Meerut and Badaun. Initially, Atul Pradhan was slated to contest from Meerut, but his ticket was later revoked. Similarly, Shivpal Yadav was selected for the Badaun seat before his ticket was canceled, and his son Aditya Yadav was nominated instead. Furthermore, Ruchi Veera has been chosen as the candidate for the Rampur Lok Sabha constituency.
