Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain was admitted to the LNJP hospital here on Monday. Sources said that his condition is stable. Jain is currently in judicial custody in the money laundering case and the matter is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Jain was arrested by the ED on May 30 last under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). A source said, he was first taken from Tihar Jail to GB Pant Hospital, then he was admitted to LNJP Hospital. His condition is stable.

Satyendar Jain's advocate had filed a bail application from the court citing health, which was rejected by the court on June 18. The advocate told the court that he is suffering from sleep apnea, which is very serious. Jain's counsel had claimed that in the absence of the assistant, the patient may die suddenly if the machine is removed or removed by the patient or the power supply is interrupted. He said that for the operation of the machine, back-up of electricity is necessary, which is not there in the jail. The advocate had also said that the accused had severe pneumonia during Covid-19 and somehow survived.

The judge, while rejecting the bail plea, said that no medical document has been produced to show the medical history of Jain and the medical condition of the accused. He said that the accused cannot be released on bail only on the ground that he is suffering from sleep apnea. He said that the investigation of the case was still going on and the accused held an influential position, hence the possibility of influencing the evidence could not be ruled out.

The ED had arrested Jain on May 30 under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Jain is currently in judicial custody. Jain is a minister without any department in the Kejriwal government. The ED is investigating under PMLA in the alleged hawala deal case against him. In April last, the ED had attached assets worth Rs 4.81 crore of companies belonging to the Jain family.
