Pittsburgh Steelers will provide great tribute to Ben Roethlisberger in season 2025
Ben Roethlisberger, who won two Super Bowl titles will be honored in NFL Week 15
Art Rooney II, owner and president of the Pittsburgh Steelers, announced this Saturday that they will be honored in Week 15 of the 2025 season NFL legend Ben Roethlisberger will become the 61st member of the franchise's Hall of Honor.
In addition to Roethlisberger, who led the team to its two most recent Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl XL and XLIII, former linebacker Joey Porter Sr., a champion, and former nine-time Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey will also be inducted as the 62nd and 63rd members, respectively.
"Welcoming these guys who mean so much to the game of football and the Steelers is a tremendous honor. These three men made a difference throughout their historic careers. They deserve to be here alongside the other legends who have been part of this great history," said Art Rooney III.
The Steelers, along with the New England Patriots, are the winningest teams in the Super Bowl era, with six Lombardi Trophies each.
Big Ben, a Pittsburgh Steelers legend
Roethlisberger, who retired in 2022, will join Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw in this recognition, who led Pittsburgh to wins in Super Bowls IX, X, XIII and XIV, and who was part of the first class of the Pittsburgh Hall of Honor, which was created in 2017.
This hall was founded with the goal of recognizing former players, coaches and front office staff who played a fundamental role in the success of a franchise the oldest in the league; it was founded in 1933.
To be inducted, a player or coach must have retired at least three years prior to their selection, have played a minimum of three seasons with the team, and make significant contributions to the franchise and the community.
The tribute ceremony for Roethlisberger, Porter, and Pouncey will take place during the Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins at Acrisure Stadium, home of the Steelers, on December 15.
