Two-time Olympic medalist and former world champion PV Sindhu is going to make a comeback at the international level in a new avatar from the new year. He has found a new foreign coach for himself for the Paris Olympics. Sindhu will take coaching under the tutelage of former Indonesian coach of the Indian team and currently Thailand coach Agus Dwi Santoso from January 1. Although veteran Prakash Padukone will remain associated with her as a mentor, Santoso will now be with Sindhu as a foreign coach. Sindhu is back on the court after recovering from a left knee injury and has started practicing in Hyderabad.

After parting ways with Korean coach Park Tae Sung, Sindhu hired Indonesian legend Mohammad Hafiz Hashim as her foreign coach, but after that her performance at the international level deteriorated further. In November she suffered a grade-2 tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee. Doctors advised him to go to rehabilitation. During this time, Sindhu started searching for a new foreign coach, which was found in the form of Santoso. Santoso has trained Sindhu earlier also. He was the coach of the Indian team at the Gopichand Academy, but during the lockdown he had to stay alone in the academy. After a few days he left the post.

If sources are to be believed, Santoso is coming only to coach Sindhu. His salary will be 10 thousand US dollars (about Rs 8.25 lakh) per month. This coach is being provided to Sindhu by SAI. Santoso is coming for Sindhu after breaking the agreement with the Thailand team. Sources reveal that during this time, Sindhu will make preparations with Prakash Padukone in both Bangalore and Hyderabad. Santoso will be a regular with them.

Sindhu has returned to the court after rehabilitation. She is currently practicing in Hyderabad, but she has been given only 50 percent practice load. Their practice load will be increased from next month. Santoso has also coached former world number one Korean shuttler Son Wan Ho, former world champion Indonesian Sonny Dwi Kuncro.
