They say learning comes through hard work, and Chivas, with Gabriel Milito, took advantage of the previous tournament to learn the manual that is now helping them achieve a winning start in the current Clausura 2026 tournament with two victories which has them at the top of the standings with six points.

Now the victim was FC Juarez with a last-minute goal from Jonathan Yael Padilla in a match where Guadalajara overcame a penalty that was disallowed for a previous offside, forcing them to work much harder against an opponent that was practically surprised by the young player from Guadalajara, leaving them reeling on the field with the goal in the 94th minute.

Chivas should have settled the match more easily, but a great performance from goalkeeper Sebastian Jurado prevented the team managed by Gabriel Milito from having a better justification for the football they displayed at the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez.

Because it was the "Sacred Flock" that started contributing offensive play and finished the match in the same way, with a lineup where both starters and substitutes went out to try to win the match, and in the end they were rewarded with the three points thanks to the goal scored in the dying moments of the game by Yael Padilla.

The victory put Chivas at the top of the standings with six points and a great opportunity to increase their tally when they host Queretaro next Saturday in Week 3 action, especially given their performance at the start of the tournament.

The Match

In the second half, Chivas maintained a high tempo, which stifled Bravos' resistance. With each play, Guadalajara seemed to outpace their markers, but the bad news was that the Bravos' goalkeeper, Sebastian Jurado, appeared to be an impenetrable barrier.

Thus, in the 58th minute, Jurado denied a spectacular goal to Mexican-American Brian Gutierrez on a well-worked set piece by the Guadalajara side. The midfielder unleashed a shot with spin, but the goalkeeper made a brilliant save with his outstretched hand.

Chivas had further chances in the 68th and 78th minutes, Both Bryan Gonzalez and Richard Ledezma were on the scoresheet until the final minutes of the match, when Guadalajara had brought on Ricardo Marin, Angel Sepulveda, and Yael Padilla to try and secure the victory.
