David Ospina is a goalkeeper with a lot of experience in international football. The Colombian goalkeeper arrives at Atlante, a new challenge in his career. Ospina is motivated by his participation in the club led by Miguel Herrera.

Atlante will have the complex challenge of competing again in the first division of Mexican soccer. Miguel Herrera leads this project. David Ospina is aware of the capabilities of the coaching staff and hopes to be able to contribute his experience for the benefit of the club.

"I come to contribute; I know that it is a team in which they want to do things well, there is a great coaching staff headed by Miguel; the truth is it is ambitious to have a coach like him and I come to give my two cents," said the 37-year-old goalkeeper.

Reports indicate that David Ospina would have signed a one-year contract with Atlante. This would allow the Colombian to participate in two short tournaments with the Mexican team. The first objective is to settle in the goal and adapt the squad to this new level of competition.

"It is a wonderful project. We have to go step by step and consolidate the group; it is a young team and I really want to do things well. We need the support of the fans to make the most of this project," added the veteran Colombian goalkeeper.

An archer with a long international career

In 2008 David Ospina left Atlético Nacional to go to football in Europe. Since then, the Mexican goalkeeper has defended the goals of Nice, Arsenal, Napoli, Al Nassr and now his first experience in Mexican soccer.

David Ospina was among those called up by Néstor Lorenzo for the Colombian team in the 2026 World Cup. Although he did not play any minutes, Ospina was a key piece that offered experience to the coffee team. A case similar to that of Guillermo Ochoa.
