Disagreement in Vergil Ortiz's team delays negotiation with Boots Ennis

A disagreement between Rick Mirigian, Oscar de la Hoya, and Eric Gomez is delaying negotiations to finalize the fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, as reported by Dan Rafael.
According to the journalist in ProboxingFans, Rafael reported that the war between Mirigian and the directors of Golden Boy Promotions is over money, and if they don't reach an agreement, there won't be a fight.
“The problem in making the fight happen is between Eric Gomez and Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy, and Rick Mirigian, Vergil Ortiz's representative. They're having a war within the board of directors over the money for that fight,” he said.
“If they can't resolve it, the fight won't happen. Rick has adopted a scorched-earth attitude about it. And Oscar and Eric aren't going to give up. They're arguing like cats and dogs,” he added.
According to trainer Robert Garcia, Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Boots Ennis had begun negotiations to finalize a fight in 2026, and both teams met for a long time.
Eddie Hearn also indicated that there is already a signed agreement for this fight to take place next. All that's missing is the Mexican-American's signature. However, Oscar De La Hoya made it clear that they will only accept the fight if the terms favor Ortiz Jr. Recall that Jaron Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr. were in negotiations to face each other at 147 pounds, but Boots preferred not to take the fight at that time. After this, both teams exchanged provocations, but now it seems that this fight will become a reality. In his last fight, Ortiz Jr. showed no mercy to Lubin and finished him in the second round. In contrast, Ennis made a spectacular debut at 154 pounds by knocking out Uisma Lima in the first round and winning the WBA interim championship. Vergil Ortiz Jr., 24, defended his WBC interim super welterweight championship and is willing to face anyone next. The Mexican-American boxer maintains his undefeated record after 23 fights, 21 of them by knockout in his professional career.
For his part,Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, 27, is a former unified IBF and WBA welterweight champion, and made a strong debut at 154 pounds. The American fighter is undefeated after 36 fights, 31 of them by knockout.
