"False and I categorically deny any speculation. We lost because Mexico was better than us in the first half in terms of football and the debate was over," said the Argentine strategist in an interview with Radio Centro.
Sebastián Beccacece believes that these rumors arose amid the need to explain Ecuador's poor performance. La Tri could not advance to the round of 16, in a tournament in which they were able to defeat Germany.
"When you lose, sometimes it is easier to look for other explanations. We did the things we had to do and the debate ends. We should not generate conspiracies or theories that are not true," he added.
Only Mexico surpassed Ecuador
Sebastián Beccacece believes that Javier Aguirre was the only coach who managed to beat La Tri. Although in essence it may be true, Ecuador did not have a good World Cup. The South Americans had a lot of problems scoring goals.
"The game with Mexico was the only game where we were surpassed, where we couldn't show our game. It didn't let us show why we were in that instance," he concluded.
