The schedule of Asia Cup 2022 has been released. India and Pakistan will face each other in a Group A clash in Dubai on August 28. The tournament will start from August 27 and the final will be played on September 11. Earlier, it was confirmed that the Asia Cup will be hosted by Sri Lanka in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament was shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to the ongoing economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka.

The match against Pakistan will be India's first match in the Asia Cup and after this match, the Rohit Sharma-led side will face the qualifiers. After the group stage fixtures, there will be a Super 4 stage, and the best two teams will advance to the final. The 15th edition of the Asia Cup will serve as an ideal preparation before the ICC T20 World Cup.


Asia Cup shifted from Sri Lanka to UAE

Earlier, while announcing the transfer of the Asia Cup from Sri Lanka to the United Arab Emirates, Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah said that in view of the current situation in Sri Lanka, the ACC has unanimously concluded after extensive deliberations That it would be appropriate to move the tournament to the UAE. The ACC said in a statement that every effort was made to host the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the decision to move the venue to the UAE was taken after much deliberation. The UAE will be the new venue while Sri Lanka will retain the hosting rights.

Sri Lanka will host

Sri Lanka Cricket chief Shammi Silva said that we were really looking forward to hosting our Asian neighbors in Sri Lanka for the much awaited Asia Cup. While I fully stand by the ACC's decision to move the Asia Cup to the UAE, given the current context and the magnitude of the event. Sri Lanka Cricket will work closely with the ACC and Emirates Cricket Board to ensure that we still have an exciting edition of the Asia Cup. The T20 tournament will be played from 27 August to 11 September.
