ARTO Santosh Pal's house recovered 650 times more assets than income, raided by MP police
EOW raided the house of a Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Santosh Pal in connection with a disproportionate assets case in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Madhya Pradesh Police raided the premises of a Jabalpur Regional Transport Officer Santosh Pal and his wife in connection with the disproportionate assets case for more than 15 hours. In this raid, more than 16 lakh rupees in cash and crores of rupees have been disclosed. Branch Superintendent of Police (SP) Devendra Singh Rajput said that 30 personnel of Economic Offenses Wing conducted raids on the premises of RTO Santosh Paul and his wife Lekha Paul. Paul's wife is a clerk in the RTO office.

During the raid, officials have recovered Rs 16 lakh in cash, 500 to 600 grams of gold jewelery and some incriminating documents, he said. "We are examining the documents and the confiscated items to assess how much property the couple has acquired beyond their known sources of income," the official said. He said the branch has also raided two premises of the couple and their confidante's residences.

The official said that his luxurious house had a home theatre, swimming pool and other luxury items. The SP said that after verifying the complaint against the couple, the Economic Offenses Wing conducted a raid and found that the accused officer had amassed more than 550 per cent of his assets from his salary. The official said that in the investigation so far, five houses, one farm house, one car, one SUV and two two-wheelers have been found with them. He said that a case has been registered against the couple under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
