This model, which will incorporate a mild-hybrid propulsion system, represents a clear commitment to keeping the Fiat 500 current, especially after the drop in sales of the 500e, its fully electric version.

The objective is not only to recover commercial volume, but also to revitalize local production in Italy and continue building on a heritage that has lasted for more than six decades.
Production of the 500 Ibrida has already begun in the pre-series phase, and mass production is scheduled to start in November 2025 at the historic Mirafiori plant in Turin, marking a clear commitment to Italian industrial continuity.
A wide range for multiple needs
The new 2026 Fiat 500 Ibrida will be offered in three body variants: the classic hatchback version (sedan), a 3+1 version with an additional side door to facilitate rear access, and the cabrio version, which retains the youthful and urban spirit of the original model.
With this range, Fiat plans to produce around 100,000 units per year, according to the Stellantis group's plans. The intention is to cater to different user profiles without losing sight of the need to maintain competitive and affordable prices.
Although the name may vary depending on the market - it is also known as "500 Hybrid" or "500 Torino" -, they all share the same essence: maintaining the appeal of a city car, but with modern mechanics and greater fuel efficiency.
Firefly engine with hybrid assistance
The mechanics will be one of the key points of the 500 Ibrida. Fiat has decided to equip it with a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder Firefly engine, associated with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system. This system does not allow driving in 100% electric mode, but it does help during start-up, acceleration, and braking, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The engine will deliver approximately 70 horsepower and 95 Nm of torque, sufficient for the demands of urban environments. The gearbox will be a six-speed manual, also manufactured in Mirafiori.
It is estimated that the new 500 hybrid will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 14 seconds, and reach a top speed of 167 km/h, figures that do not seek to stand out on the track, but rather offer safety and agility in the city and on the highway.
Continuous design with exclusive details
Aesthetically, the 2026 Fiat 500 Ibrida will maintain much of the design seen in the 500e, including its compact silhouette, rounded headlights and the retro-modern spirit that has characterized this model since its relaunch in 2007.
However, there will be specific details for the hybrid version, such as a new front grille designed to improve cooling of the combustion engine.
Inside, the model will feature a 10.25-inch central screen, equipped with the Uconnect system 5, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The materials and finishes will aim to maintain a high standard, although adapted to a more contained price range.
Safety and assistance equipment
The Fiat 500 Ibrida will also come with driver assistance technology that meets the requirements of European regulations. Systems such as the following will be included:
These elements not only respond to new regulations, but also reinforce the model's value proposition for those looking for a safe urban car, without having to opt for more expensive options.
Competitive price to attract new customers
Fiat has revealed that the base price of the 2026 500 Ibrida will be approximately $18,500 USD, positioning it as one of the most affordable options within the urban hybrid segment.
This figure represents a considerable savings compared to the 500e, which in some markets exceeds $30,000 USD.
The positioning of the new hybrid will be key for the brand, which seeks to attract both young drivers and those who want a second vehicle for daily commutes, without compromising style or technology.
A logical step in the face of market reality
The launch of the Fiat 500 Ibrida It's no coincidence. With demand for 100% electric vehicles showing signs of fatigue in Europe, many brands have begun to take steps back to adapt to a consumer seeking efficiency, but also practicality and a lower entry price.
Furthermore, with the new safety and emissions regulations applicable since the middle of the decade, this model arrives as an intermediate solution that allows Fiat to continue complying with European standards without having to bet everything on pure electric.
