As part of security operations on the country's highways, federal elements detained a man who was transporting more than three tons of methamphetamine hidden in sacks of cattle feed in the state of Sonora.

As a result of surveillance, security and intelligence tasks, security agents stopped the driver of a tractor-trailer attached to a dry box, who was traveling at excess speed and invading the opposite lane.

According to the transfer documentation, the unit was destined for Tijuana, Baja California.

In order to rule out any illicit conduct, the agents carried out an inspection of the vehicle, where they located 60 sacks containing plastic containers with methamphetamine, hidden among packages of livestock feed, weighing approximately 3,025 kilos of drugs.

For his part, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, pointed out that the seizure represents millions of doses of drugs that will no longer reach the streets, in addition to being a strong financial blow for criminal groups by preventing them from obtaining significant economic income.

"Due to these events, the 49-year-old man was read his constitutional rights and, along with the seized drugs, was placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will determine his legal situation and integrate the investigation folder of the case," says a press release.

The institutions that make up the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to work in a coordinated manner to prevent drugs from reaching the streets and affecting the health of the population.
