Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, intensified the campaign promoted by the United States against Cuba by defining it as a “rogue state that harbors terrorist operations,” which he warned should no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.
"It's been a tough regime this year. They've killed a lot of people, but it's a country that really needs help. They have nothing. They can't turn on the lights, they don't have anything to eat.
Cuba is calling us. They need help. “It is a failed nation, it needs help and we will give it to it,” he expressed from the White House in a meeting with the press held at the end of May, opening the possibility of a hypothetical military intervention.
From this follows the fact that Marco Rubio, son of Cuban immigrants, was assigned the mission of analyzing in detail the problems that prevail on the Caribbean island and a possible alternative solution.
From the perspective of the Secretary of State, the Cuban government refuses to create the conditions to carry out an electoral process where democracy is respected above the force exerted by a military junta clinging to power.
Rubio also does not foresee the will of the authorities to allow the island to open to foreign investment and instead makes more than 11 million Cubans suffer.
For this reason, the Republican born in Florida has chosen to sanction several Cuban government companies such as Grupo de Gestión Empresarial SA (GAESA).
In fact, in a new episode, he accused five entities and eight Cubans of acquiring military material destined for Havana.
“The Cuban communist regime is a state sponsor of terrorism that spies on the United States, arms violent left-wing radicals, spreads a poisonous Marxist ideology and serves as a base for Russia, China and Iran just 145 kilometers from our coasts,” he wrote on platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
In contrast, Miguel Díaz-Canel, president of Cuba, gave a speech where he reminded the United States not to be a colony of any country.
"We are not a nation in dispute or a colony; we are a sovereign people that has decided its destiny. The road is difficult, the situation is complex, but the will to succeed is unbreakable," he warned.
