The use of Ozempic, a medication originally designed to treat type 2 diabetes, has become a global trend for rapid weight loss. However, behind this fashion, there are serious risks that the Mexican actor Rodrigo Vidal experienced firsthand, bringing him to the brink of death.
In a revealing interview with TvNotas magazine, Vidal, known for roles in novels such as “The Privilege of Love,” shared the details of his critical state of health, which occurred in 2024, with the aim of warning the population about the dangers of self-medicating and following trends without medical supervision.
He mentioned to the magazine that motivated by recommendations from third parties and the growing popularity of the drug, the actor decided to turn to Ozempic to lose weight. What seemed like a quick and effective solution would soon turn into a nightmare. For the first three months, the medication caused him no apparent discomfort, giving him a false sense of security.
However, when attempting a second phase of treatment, the situation changed drastically. His body violently rejected the medication. “The second time they put it on me I couldn't tolerate it,” declared the actor.
Alarming symptoms
Vidal described the pain as “pierced by a spear from front to back,” intense suffering accompanied by vomiting and cold sweats that forced him to rush to the hospital. It was there that doctors diagnosed him with pancreatitis, a severe inflammation of the pancreas that can be fatal.
The actor confessed that he was not fully aware of the seriousness of his clinical condition until he received the diagnosis and understood that his life was in danger. “I found out that this condition could have a fatal outcome,” he admitted.
He added that the treatment to save his life was extreme. For ten days, Vidal had to undergo a dry fast and be fed by tube, followed by a soft diet that lasted for several months to achieve his recovery.
The actor called for responsibility: "Yes, there was a risk of losing your life. You have to see a specialist, if you are going to use a product or take a pill, first go to an expert to have the studies done to see if your body accepts it. Therefore, please, do not put your health at risk for anything," he told the magazine.
