Mexico City police arrested
Elections of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC-CDMX) arrested Irving "N", alias "El Irving", identified as the alleged leader of the Union Tepito, during an operation carried out in the Peralvillo neighborhood, Cuauhtemoc borough, in the center of the country's capital.
The Secretary of Citizen Security, Pablo Vazquez Camacho, confirmed the arrest and assured that "we will not take a step back in the fight against the groups that generate violence in order to continue building a safer, more just, and peaceful city."
"As a result of intelligence and investigation work, in the Cuauhtemoc borough, colleagues from SSC_CDMX arrested Irving "N", identified as the leader of a criminal group that generates violence that operates mainly in the downtown area," the official reported this Tuesday on his account on the social network X.
The arrest occurred on Beethoven Street, at the intersection with the Eje Central Lazaro Cardenas, when officers observed the alleged criminal with what appeared to be a firearm, accompanied by a woman.
They seized weapons and drugs
After a preventive search, both were arrested in possession of a handgun with six live cartridges, seven bags of suspected cocaine, three doses of apparent cocaine, 35 grams of possible crystal meth, 98 packages of suspected marijuana, and a vehicle.
The 22-year-old woman, who claimed to be a Colombian citizen, was also arrested. Both were informed of their rights and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, which will determine their legal status.
The SSC emphasized that the arrest of "El Irving" is part of the ongoing operations to weaken criminal groups operating in the center of the capital and reduce levels of violence in Mexico City.
"We will not take a step back in the fight against the groups that generate violence in order to continue building a safer, more just, and peaceful city," said Pablo Vazquez.
