Jalisco authorities arrested two American citizens who were wanted by United States security agencies for their participation in crimes of homicide, robbery and drug trafficking.
The Jalisco Security Secretariat reported that the captures were carried out in different operations, after intelligence work and the exchange of information with US agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Marshals Service (U.S. Marshals).
One of those arrested is William Michael Brown, 38, who had an arrest warrant in Marion County, Indiana, for the crimes of homicide and robbery.
According to authorities, he was located in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, where he was arrested without incidents reported.
The second arrested was David Mendoza, 36, wanted by the Federal Court of the Southern District of California for crimes related to drug trafficking. His capture occurred in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, after an operation coordinated by the State Police.
State authorities indicated that both arrests were possible thanks to the mechanisms of cooperation and exchange of information with US corporations, which made it possible to identify the location of the fugitives in Jalisco territory.
After their capture, the two men were placed at the disposal of the National Migration Institute (INM) and the competent authorities to initiate the corresponding procedure, with the aim of being handed over to the United States authorities in accordance with international collaboration protocols.
The Jalisco Security Secretariat highlighted that these actions are part of the permanent coordination with international security agencies to locate and detain people considered priority objectives who try to evade justice by taking refuge in Mexico.
