At 30 years old, Tom Holland is at a high point in his career as Spider-Man. As he prepares for the premiere of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the actor revealed that there is already a detailed plan for the transition of the character to a new actor, a process that began to take shape just after the success of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.
In a recent interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Holland confirmed that the team behind the films has been working on this relay for the last five years.
“There's a whole plan that we've been working on, I would say, since we finished 'Spider-Man: No Way Home,'” the actor stated. Although he acknowledges that the plan could be modified, Holland said he has a very clear vision of how he wants the handover of the witness to be carried out.
"It's all planned. It's going to change, for sure, but I have a very clear vision about handing over the baton, and I think it's very exciting," he added.

The actor, who debuted as Spider-Man in 2016 in “Captain America: Civil War,” is not only thinking about his own exit, but also about how he can contribute to the future of the character.
Holland expressed his desire to emulate the role that Robert Downey Jr. had with him, acting as a mentor to the next generation. "For whoever is next, whether it's a Miles Morales, a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman, I would love to be part of creating the next chapter," he told Empire magazine.
He even mentioned his specific desire to “bring Miles Morales to the screen” and mentor the lucky young man who lands that role.
Despite these succession plans, fans can rest assured that Holland is in no rush to hang up his suit. In a recent interview with GQ, the 30-year-old actor made his position clear: "I would love to pass the baton, but I haven't gotten around to it yet... I think the truth is that playing Spider-Man has been the joy of my life. Now I'm left a little on the pedestal that I'll do it as long as they love me."
The new film, which premieres tomorrow, places Peter Parker in a world that has completely forgotten his identity. Without his friends and the support of the Avengers, Spider-Man must protect New York as an unsung hero, while dealing with an internal transformation that may be beyond his control. The cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.
