A man in exile from Iran, who lived for 18 years at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, died at the airport on Saturday. Airport officials gave this information. The man, Merhan Karimi Nasseri, died of a heart attack in the airport's Terminal 2F around noon, according to a Paris airport authority official. Police and a medical team treated him but survived, the official said. Couldn't find Mehran was also known as Sir Alfred.

According to French media reports, Karimi Nasseri is believed to have been born in the Iranian city of Masjid Suleiman in 1945 and his autobiography 'The Terminal Man' was published in 2004. He lived in Terminal 1 of Paris Airport from 1988 to 2006. However, it initially ran into legal hurdles as he did not have residency papers and later stayed at the airport as per his choice. The airport official said that he had been living at the airport again in recent weeks. 

Mehran was the first to settle at the airport in 1988 after Britain refused him political asylum as a refugee. Britain refused him asylum despite the fact that his mother was Scottish. He then deliberately declared himself stateless and chose to stay at the airport. It is said that he always carried his belongings with him. 

Mehran came out of the airport for the first time after being at the airport for 18 years in 2006 during his hospitalization. At the airport he spent time reading, writing a diary, and studying economics. Spielberg decided to make the film The Terminal in 2004 based on his unusual condition. Tom Hanks starred in this film. It starred Tom Hanks as an Eastern European man who stays at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport after being denied entry to the United States. Apart from 'The Terminal' starring Tom Hanks, a 1993 French film 'Tombs du Ciel' starring Jean Rochefort was also inspired by Mehran.
