William Levy could face serious legal problems after failing to appear again at a hearing related to his arrest last April for public intoxication, disturbing the peace, and trespassing.

After the Cuban actor did not attend a hearing scheduled for this Thursday, Judge Melinda Brown, the person in charge of the case, gave him an ultimatum to enroll in the Minor Offense Diversion Program (NDP) by June 30, which includes anger management workshops, drug prevention, and community service.

The judge warned that if he does not comply with this condition, he will lose the benefit and could face more severe criminal proceedings, even prison time.

In addition, a new hearing was set for July 11, at which Levy must demonstrate that he is complying with the program's requirements.

The absence of the actor and his lawyer at the previous hearing increased the judicial pressure, despite the fact that his legal representative expressed his willingness to allow Levy to participate in the program.

Apparently, the actor did not attend the hearing due to work commitments, since he is in Spain promoting his most recent film, Under a Volcano.

In early June, the actor's lawyer, Regina Tsombanakis, indicated that he intends to attend an initiative called the Non-Diversion Program (NDP), aimed at addressing behavioral problems such as anger despite having pleaded not guilty in a previous hearing.

Why was William Levy arrested?

In April, William Levy was arrested on several charges, including drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.

The actor was arrested on the night of Monday, April 14, after he got into an altercation at a restaurant in Florida for refusing to pay the bill, but was released shortly after.

According to People en Español, a source close to Levy said that the arrest occurred after the actor, who was at the Baires Grill restaurant with the parents of his son's friends, order a round of drinks for everyone and then refuse to pay the bill.

“When the bill came, I don’t know the exact amount, but it was an exorbitant amount, and he said he wasn’t going to pay; he had already bought a round of drinks for like 100 people,” the source told People en Español.

The altercation began after the actor pushed someone who approached him while he was arguing with the restaurant’s manager, so he was immediately asked to leave the restaurant, but he had to go back to get something he left on the table and was arrested.

“They asked William to leave the place and he left his cell phone on the table, when he came back for it, the police were called and when he left the place, they arrested him,” the source said.

After the arrest, the actor had to spend the night in the Weston jail and on Tuesday morning he appeared before a judge in Broward County, who set a bail of $250 per charge for release.
