Rihanna attended her father funeral in Barbados with her family
In May it was learned that the singer father, Ronald Fenty, died at the age of 70 in Los Angeles after battling pancreatic cancer
Rihanna said goodbye to her father. This week, the singer, who is pregnant with her third child, attended a memorial service for her late father in Barbados.
The “Umbrella” singer was photographed arriving with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, at the Garfield Sobers Gym in Bridgetown to attend the memorial service to honor her father, Ronald Fenty.
The ceremony brought together family, close friends, and some prominent Barbadian personalities, including Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, who also paid tribute to Ronald Fenty.
In May, it was reported that the singer’s father, Ronald Fenty, died at the age of 70 in Los Angeles after a battle with an illness that included pancreatic cancer and respiratory and kidney complications.
After the news broke, TMZ published photos of Rihanna’s brother, Rajad Fenty, arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles this week. According to the outlet, the singer was also in the vehicle.
Fenty's death came shortly after Rihanna announced she was pregnant with her third child with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky.
A relationship marked by ups and downs
Rihanna's relationship with her father was marked by difficult episodes and reconciliations.
During her childhood in Barbados, the singer witnessed Ronald Fenty's struggle with alcoholism and drug addiction, as well as episodes of domestic violence towards her mother, Monica Braithwaite.
On several occasions, Rihanna has expressed in interviews how those difficult moments of her childhood affected her life and her vision of the family.
Despite the conflicts, including estrangement and a lawsuit in 2019 for the unauthorized use of her name in her father's businesses, the two managed to reconcile in recent years.
Rihanna even financed rehabilitation treatments for him and, on several occasions, they were seen together at important events for the singer.
