Gods, mythical battles and drama in the new trailer of “The Odyssey” by Christopher Nolan
Universal has released a new trailer for the film that gives a look at Matt Damon as "Odysseus" and the villain "Antinous", played by Robert Pattinson
There is less and less time left for the release of Christopher Nodal's long-awaited film, “The Oddysey.” To warm up the engines, Universal has published a new t trailer showing Matt Damon fighting a tough battle against Cyclops, as well as the villain “Antinous”, played by Robert Pattinson.
The unexpected advance was made known during the night of Monday May 4, on the program “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”. The scenes shown on-screen showed the protagonist, Matt Damon, in his role of 'Odysseus' fighting against the Cyclops. In addition, confirmed Robert Pattinson's role as the evil 'Antinous', whose purpose in the film is to seize the throne of Ithaca.
One of the big surprises in this teaser was the appearance of Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher”, “The Walking Dead”) as ‘king Menelaus’, as a new look at Charlize Ther on in her role of ‘Circe’. In her scene, the actress emanates a presence of absolute control that, combined with masterful set design, transports the audience to ancient Greece.
Along Matt Damon, in the leading roles personalities appear such as: Anne Hathaway as 'Penelope', who represents waiting in Ithaca, and Tom Holland as 'Telemachus', the son of 'Odysseus'.
The cast is completed with: Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Will Yun Lee, Mia Goth, Jimmy Gonzales, Elliot Page and Jovan Adepo, among others.
In addition to the expectation that this production has generated due to its historical value and first-class cast, “The Odyssey” will be crowned as the first narrative film shot entirely with IMAX cameras.
Regarding this experience, the filmmaker confessed that the most complex thing was finding a balance between an immersive experience rich in narrative and action sequels at the level of said format: “Why ‘The Odyssey’? ‘The Odyssey’ is a story that has fascinated generation after generation for 3000 years,” nolan reflected. “It’s not a story. It’s THE story.”
The cinema release of “The Oddysey” is scheduled for July 17 of this 2026, and already aims to become one of the most acclaimed films in next year's awards season.
