The story between Tom Holland and Zendaya, who are in the middle of the promotional campaign for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, has established itself as one of the most emblematic romantic journeys in Hollywood.
It all started in 2016, when both actors met for the first time during the production of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Holland took on the role of Peter Parker and Zendaya took on the role of Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson. The spark between the two was so evident from the beginning that even producer Amy Pascal advised them to avoid getting romantically involved: “Don't go there, just don't do it,” she recalled telling them when the project started.
Despite the warnings, off-camera complicity continued to grow. During the 2017 promotional tour, their laughter and looks sparked speculation that both denied between jokes on social networks.
For several years, they maintained a solid friendship and even had romantic relationships with other people while continuing to work together in the franchise, as happened in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).
The final breaking point came in July 2021, when paparazzi captured the couple kissing inside a car in Los Angeles. In September of that same year, Holland made the romance official on Instagram on the occasion of the actress's birthday, dedicating a behind-the-scenes photograph to her accompanied by the message "my MJ." From that moment on, they decided to rigorously protect their private life.
In an interview with GQ, the British actor explained the reason for his secrecy: "It's not my story. It's our story."
Over the years, the couple tried to keep a low profile, limiting their public displays of affection to discreet gestures and spontaneous moments that quickly went viral at concerts and sporting events.
After getting engaged privately at the end of 2024, the couple took the final step towards marriage in 2026 through an intimate ceremony. After months of speculation fueled by the presence of marital alliances in his public appearances, Holland confirmed the nuptials in June 2026 by openly referring to Zendaya as his wife.
