The American journalist Pérez Hilton hospitalized in a medical center in Miami, Florida, after starring in an alarming live broadcast from social networks where he was seen bloodied and in possession of a knife.
So far, neither the authorities nor Pérez Hilton's work team have provided more information about his state of health or the trigger for said crisis episode.
The incident that unleashed all kinds of reactions was recorded during the evening of August 5, when the influencer made a broadcast from his TikTok account in which he presented erratic behavior.
The images showed Hilton completely naked, stained with what looked like his own blood and with cuts on his body and face while users who witnessed his 'live' urged him to calm down and ask for help.
The live broadcast was recorded for just over 30 minutes, until it was abruptly ended and the communicator's account was deleted from the TikTok platform.
Several reports about the incident reached the ears of Miami authorities through 911. In response, they went to his home to control the situation, requiring the support of mental health specialists, who guided the police unit to calm Pérez Hilton and transfer him to a medical center where he remains hospitalized.
The authorities confirmed that the communicator, an expert in Hollywood celebrity news, was alone at home during the broadcast.
Hours later, a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office (MDCSO) stated: “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or self-harm, deputies prioritize de-escalation, creating time, distance and opportunities for communication.”
He added: “Unless there is an immediate threat to others, de-escalating the situation and applying crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a police suicide and minimize the risk of injury to the person, officers and the public.”
Although it was confirmed that several of Hilton's relatives went to the hospital where he remains under observation, no relative gave statements to the press.
