Before the alarming live broadcast that led to his recent hospitalization, Mario Lavandeira Jr. — known as Perez Hilton — revealed that he dedicated efforts in recent months to seeking reconciliation with several of the celebrities he affected during the peak of his fame in the 2000s.

During an interview given on July 14 to the “Hang Out With Sean Hannity” podcast — broadcast after his mental health crisis — the entertainment commentator admitted to having been aware of the cruelty of his past publications. As he explained, this recognition led him to contact privately with various Hollywood figures whom he hurt.

Among the personalities contacted is the singer Britney Spears. Hilton explained that she approached him in a reserved manner and that, according to the intermediary who transmitted the message to the artist, the response was positive. Likewise, the digital creator mentioned having communicated with Khloé Kardashian, who responded in a “very kind” way.

Another of the episodes addressed by the blogger was his relationship with actor Neil Patrick Harris, whom at the time he tried to publicly expose his sexual orientation without his consent. Hilton confirmed that she managed to formally apologize to the performer and make peace to the point that Harris allowed her to write a short contribution to his memoirs.

An “addiction to attention” and subsequent collapse

During the dialogue, the entertainment analyst described his past behavior as a heavy emotional burden. "I realized that what I was doing was wrong... It was cruel. It's something I carry with me, it's like my scarlet letter," Hilton reflected.

Furthermore, he admitted to having been “addicted to attention” at the time, treating public interest like a drug.

The revelations gained special notoriety after the incident that occurred on August 4, when Hilton starred in a worrying live broadcast on TikTok that was interrupted by the platform for violating policies on self-harm.

The Miami-Dade police intervened after receiving citizen alerts and went to his residence. Currently, the blogger is hospitalized and under medical care.
