The cause of death of Ace Frehley, co-founder of the rock band KISS, has been confirmed weeks after his passing The musician died from blunt force trauma to the head resulting from a fall, according to the Morris County Medical Examiner's report obtained by People magazine. His death, which occurred on October 16 in Morristown, New Jersey, was ruled accidental. The news of his passing was initially announced by his family in a statement, in which they expressed their deep sorrow and grief. “We are completely devastated. In his final moments, we were fortunate enough to be able to surround him with loving and peaceful words, thoughts, prayers, and intentions as he left this world,” they said.
He canceled performances before his death
Ace Frehley, whose real name was Paul Frehley, had informed his fans about the fall, which he initially described as “minor,” via Instagram on September 25.
However, due to health complications, he was forced to cancel his scheduled performances, including the remainder of his 2025 tour.
Frehley, known for his 'Spaceman' persona and iconic makeup, co-founded KISS in 1973 and left the group in 1982. After leaving, he embarked on a successful solo career and formed his own band, Frehley's Comet. In 2014, with his album Space Invader, he became the only member of KISS to enter the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart with a solo work. In addition to his musical legacy, Frehley will be remembered for his influence on generations of guitarists and for his tireless rock spirit. He is survived by his daughter, Monique, and his wife, Jeanette Trerotola.
