After a spell of unseasonal rainfall reminiscent of the monsoon season in Chhattisgarh during the month of Chaitra, temperatures are now on the rise following a record-breaking drop. Friday saw a drizzle in the morning, with temperatures soaring up to five degrees by the afternoon. While there's still a chance of rain in various parts of the state, including the capital Raipur, the city's current temperature is nine degrees below normal. Meteorologist HP Chandra attributes this phenomenon to the influx of moist air from the Bay of Bengal, which continues to bring the possibility of rainfall to some regions.

According to the Meteorological Department, the next 24 hours may see rainfall activity primarily in the southern part of the state. April is expected to bring fluctuations in weather conditions, with the onset of extreme heat anticipated in May. Over the past 24 hours, certain areas experienced light to moderate rainfall.

Raipur witnessed a drizzle on Friday morning, accompanied by significant cloud cover. The precipitation ceased around 11 o'clock, and as the clouds dissipated, the sun pushed the city's maximum temperature to 30.2 degrees Celsius by noon.

Despite surpassing the 30-degree mark, temperatures remain nine degrees below normal. Given the fluctuating conditions, it may take some time to reach the usual range of 38-39 degrees Celsius. Meteorological data reveals that the state received four cm of rainfall from March 1 to April 12, amounting to 40 mm, significantly lower than the normal range of 148 to 172 mm during this period.

Currently, Sukma and Balrampur districts are experiencing below-average rainfall for the off-season. In Raipur district, rainfall figures stand at 48.9 mm compared to the usual 168 mm for this time of year.
