Trump jokes at the White House correspondents' dinner about extending his term in office
Trump returned to the site where in April an individual violated security and fired a gun in an attempt to cause him harm, but far from being concerned he even joked
As promised, President Donald Trump attended the continuation of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, an event that was rescheduled in April due to the capture of an individual who intended to make an attempt on his life.
Once again, but with a reinforced security device, before hundreds of journalists gathered at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington, D.C., the 80-year-old Republican took the stand to address a message where he dared to joke with the possibility of governing the country through a third term.
"The second time's the charm. Just like in my presidency, the second time is always better. It's always better. And the third time will be even better. I was just joking," said the New York magnate to shake off the tension during the rescheduled White House correspondents' dinner.
Although he also joked with a joke evoking rapper Nicki Minaj, during some moments of the dinner the face of the head of the nation was captured closing his eyes.
"After hearing the gunshots, a lot of people shouted, 'Get down! Get down!', which caused Nicki Minaj to start twerking. Can you believe it? Get down! She's the only one who really understood what that meant," he said.
Trump also took the opportunity to thank Víctor Gonzales, a Secret Service officer who risked his life by confronting the surprise shooter regardless of receiving a few shots.
"What he did was amazing. We salute him and thank him from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you very much. Excellent work!" he emphasized.
