Delhi Municipal elections conch, voting on 4th December, results on 7th, model code of conduct implemented
Delhi Election Commissioner Vijay Dev said that 1,46,73,847 voters will cast their votes at 13,665 centers for 250 wards of MCD.
Delhi Municipal Corporation elections have begun. Voting will be held on December 4, while the result will be out on December 7. With the announcement of the election, the model code of conduct has come into force. Candidates can file nomination papers between November 7 and November 14. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on November 16 and candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations till November 19. For the first time, the commission will get the videography of the election campaign done.
Delhi Election Commissioner Vijay Dev gave this information at the office of Kashmere Gate on Friday. He said that for 250 wards of MCD, 1,46,73,847 voters would cast their votes at 13,665 centres. Voting will be held on December 4 from 8 am to 5.30 pm. A candidate will be able to spend eight lakh rupees in the election. In the last election, there was a spending limit of Rs 5.75 lakh. A candidate in the general category ward will have to deposit a security deposit of five thousand rupees, while in the wards reserved for the scheduled caste, the security deposit will be two and a half thousand rupees.
Vijay Dev said that the Delhi State Election Commission is an independent body and it has decided to adopt the terms and conditions of the Election Commission in the MCD elections. In this way he will use EVMs in voting. The photograph of the candidate will also be affixed with the name of the candidate. In this, the facility of NOTA button will be given if the voters do not like the candidate. A model polling station will be set up in each ward. It will be operated by women officers and employees. All civic amenities will be available in this polling station. Candidates will be able to file nomination papers from 10 am to 3 pm and they will not be able to use loudspeakers during election campaign from 10 pm to 6 am.
