Key Features of the Redevelopment
The redevelopment plan for Jodhpur Railway Station includes the construction of a five-storey building equipped with AC and non-AC restrooms, paid waiting rooms, VIP lounges, food stalls, and shops selling local products. Additionally, a three-storey building with a boarding bridge directly connecting to the platform is planned. Both structures aim to be environmentally friendly with ample ventilation.
Progress Across Rajasthan
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, redevelopment work is underway at 85 railway stations in Rajasthan. In Jaisalmer, the main entrance is ready, and finishing work is ongoing. Girder launching and deck slab casting for the air concourse and foot overbridge are complete. Similarly, in Udaipur, the structural work on the eastern side of the station is complete, with ongoing construction on the western side, including an air concourse and skywalk.
Financial Commitment
For the fiscal year 2025-26, Rs 9,959 crore has been allocated for railway projects in Rajasthan. Under Plan Head 53, Rs 5,369 crore was allocated in 2024-25 for redevelopment, with Rs 4,395 crore spent till February.
