These days, the functioning of Chandigarh Police, which takes immediate action against any kind of crime against women and puts the accused behind bars, is under question in a popular case. The matter is of sexual exploitation of the junior coach. Haryana minister Sandeep Singh is accused of this. Even after 250 days have passed since the FIR was registered, Chandigarh Police has not arrested Sandeep Singh. It is not that the FIR lodged by the female coach is a mere allegation.

After seven months of investigation, the police SIT, considering the allegations to be true, filed a charge sheet on August 25 under sections 342, 354, 354A, 354B, 506, 509 of the IPC. In the SIT investigation, the allegations leveled against the minister were being proved one by one, yet the police did not make any arrests until the charge sheet was filed. In such a situation, questions are arising.

Dipanshu Bansal, lawyer of the victim coach, says that Chandigarh Police conducted a detailed investigation in the case but did not impose the section of attempt to rape, an attempt will be made to impose it before the court. Non-bailable section has been imposed in the case. In a case registered under non-bailable sections, the police can arrest the accused even without a warrant. In this case also, if a case under these sections had been registered against a common man instead of the minister, he would have been arrested immediately. Dipanshu alleges that the police is under pressure from the government in this matter.
