Trump threatens to cut funds if the 'communist' Mamdani Wins the Election in NY
The president endorsed Andrew Cuomo in a Truth Social post on the eve of the New York elections
“If the communist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the New York City mayoral election, it is highly unlikely that I will allocate any federal funds, “Other than the bare minimum, to my beloved first residence,” Trump declared in a post on Truth Social. “As president, I don’t want to waste money.” “With a communist in charge, the situation can only get worse, and as president, I don’t want to continue wasting money.” “It is my duty to govern the nation, and I am firmly convinced that New York City will be a complete economic and social disaster if Mamdani wins,” he insisted. Instead, Trump explicitly urged New York City residents to vote for Andrew Cuomo rather than Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani in the mayoral election. Trump’s endorsement of former New York Governor Cuomo’s independent candidacy came on the eve of the election, in which Curtis Sliwa is the Republican nominee and Assemblyman Mamdani has consistently maintained a solid lead in the polls. Trump's comments echoed those he made Sunday during his appearance on CBS's 60 Minutes, in which he said, “It's going to be hard for me as president to give a lot of money to New York, because if you have a communist running New York, all you're doing is wasting the money you send there.” “His principles have been tested for over a thousand years, and they have never succeeded. I would much rather have a Democrat with a proven track record win than an inexperienced communist with a history of utter failure. As an assemblyman, he was a disaster, ranking among the worst in his class, and as mayor of what could once again be the greatest city in the world, he has absolutely no chance of restoring its former glory!” he emphasized.
