The collective effort was key for the Bulls to withstand the Hawks' late pressure and secure the victory in the first of two consecutive games between the two teams in Atlanta. The second game is scheduled for Tuesday night. Chicago set season highs in both first-half and total points. The Bulls went into halftime with an 83-73 lead, surpassing their previous best half-time score of 72 points in a 128-122 loss to Cleveland on November 8. Furthermore, the total of 152 points surpassed his own season high, set in a 150-147 double-overtime loss to Utah on November 16.
An electrifying finish and individual records
The game was decided in a tense final sequence. A three-pointer by Jalen Johnson with five seconds remaining gave Chicago a 151-150 lead. For Atlanta, Jalen Johnson led all scorers with 36 points, while Trae Young added a season-high 35. Despite their offensive effort, the Hawks suffered their third straight loss and their seventh in their last nine games.falling to a 15-15 record.
Onyeka Okongwu contributed 23 points and Vit Krejci added 20 for Atlanta. Young started for the second time in three games, after missing 21 games due to a sprained right medial collateral ligament. Coach Quin Snyder explained that the point guard still needs a continued “acclimation” process to be ready to play back-to-back games.
In Chicago, Coby White scored 21 points despite being listed as questionable with a left ankle injury, while Josh Giddey nearly had a double-double with 19 points and 12 assists.
