Lionel Messi would be close to having a partner of the national team in Inter Miami
Inter Miami continues its ambition to have the best players and compete in the MLS
Inter Miami is looking to continue growing after its participation in the Club World Cup and one of its objectives would be Rodrigo de Paul, Messi's friend in the Argentine national team.
This Tuesday it was learned that Inter Miami began talks to sign De Paul and improve the team in the MLS.
Inter Miami made a formal offer to Rodrigo de Paul. It is for now. De Paul is considering it. If there's an agreement, they'll move forward with Atletico de Madrid. Talks are already underway, reported reporter Gaston Edul.
De Paul is one of Atletico de Madrid's regular players in Diego Simeone's scheme. The Argentine midfielder played in all three matches of the Club World Cup recently in the United States.
The Argentine played in 34 of 38 La Liga matches and all 10 games Atletico de Madrid had in last year's UEFA Champions League.
At 31 years old, De Paul has no team titles at club level. The midfielder has four titles with the Argentine national team: two Copa America, one Finalissima and one World Cup (Qatar 2022).
Inter Miami returned to MLS with a rout
Lionel Messi scored a double this Saturday in Inter Miami's 1-4 rout of Montreal in his return to MLS after his participation in the Club World Cup, where the Florida team fell in the round of 16 to PSG.
Messi made a serious error in the 2nd minute that opened the door to 1-0 courtesy of Prince Owusu, but Inter Miami corrected the course with a goal from Argentina's Tadeo Allende, one from Messi, another from Venezuela's Telasco Segovia and the second goal from the 10.
Messi's two goals came with trademark plays, slaloming between rivals without anyone being able to take the ball from him. The second was especially brilliant, in which he appeared surrounded by Montreal players but still found a way to send the ball into the net.
The team coached by Javier Mascherano is sixth in the East with 32 points but has played four fewer games than the conference leader, Cincinnati, which has 42 points.
