The name Testarossa evokes a golden age in the history of Ferrari and in the popular culture of sports cars. After decades of absence, the Italian brand has decided to bring it back, but with an approach that responds to current times: electrification.

The new model is not limited to being an aesthetic tribute, but a reinterpretation with high-performance hybrid technology.

The presentation in Milan was a nod to tradition, but the approach of the car is clearly futuristic. Ferrari has sought to maintain the radical spirit of the original Testarossa, while incorporating the efficiency and brutality that modern supercars demand.

A hybrid system that breaks the mold

The heart of the new Testarossa is made up of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, placed in a mid-rear position, which on its own develops 818 horsepower. These engines are complemented by three electric motors, bringing the total output to 1,035 horsepower.

This figure places it above the SF90 Stradale, which it replaces in the Ferrari range. In addition, the car includes a 7.45 kWh battery that allows it to travel approximately 24 kilometers in 100% electric mode, a detail designed for urban situations or short trips.

The power is not only translated into striking numbers, but also into acceleration figures that place it among the elite of supercars. Ferrari claims that the Testarossa hybrid is capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds and reaching 200 km/h in 6.35 seconds.

The top speed, according to the brand, is 330 km/h (205 mph). These features make it a model designed not only to show off on the road, but also to shine on the track.

Exclusivity and prices

Luxury comes at a price, and in the case of the new Testarossa, it starts at $540,000 for the coupe version. Those looking for the Spider variant should prepare at least $587,000.

The first deliveries are planned for the middle of next year in Europe. For the US market, units will not arrive until the last quarter of 2026, with a higher cost due to current trade tariffs.

Path to full electrification

Beyond its role as a hybrid supercar, the new Testarossa also has strategic significance for Ferrari. The company sees it as a bridge to its first all-electric sports car, scheduled to arrive in 2026.

The Prancing Horse brand has been cautious about electrification, admitting that, for now, there is "zero" demand for high-performance electric sports cars. However, the Testarossa Hybrid could pave the way and prepare loyal customers for the switch.

The Testarossa Plug-in Hybrid is proof that tradition and innovation can coexist, while keeping the essence of one of the most iconic sports cars of all time intact.
