More than 600 Israelis have died in the attack carried out by Hamas on Saturday. Israeli emergency services said four people were injured in rocket attacks in and around the city of Sderot on Sunday. One of the victims, a 20-year-old youth, is in critical condition. So far, more than 2000 people have been reported injured in Israel.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is assessing security at the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv. According to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and other senior security officials are attending the meeting.
Meanwhile, there is also news that due to intensification of firing between Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hamas, more than three hundred Palestinian civilians have also been killed. The Hamas-run health ministry in the Gaza Strip has confirmed the death toll. It said 313 Palestinians had been killed and another 1,990 wounded in the Gaza Strip.
According to 'The Times of Israel' report, "Most of these people have been killed as a result of Israeli retaliatory attacks in the Gaza Strip. Earlier, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said that the search for Hamas terrorists was continuing in several cities and “More than 400 terrorists have been killed inside Gaza, while dozens have been captured.”
"Forces are currently fighting in Kfar Aja (kibbutz)," the newspaper quoted Hagari as saying. Searches are going on in the cities. There are IDF soldiers in all the towns, there is no town that does not have IDF soldiers. According to Hagari, the IDF aims to evacuate all civilians from Gaza's border areas, end the fighting there, manage breaches of the security barriers, and continue attacks on terrorist targets in the Strip.
A day earlier, Hamas had launched a large number of rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip. Since then, firing has continued between Israeli security forces and Hamas in Kafar Aja near the Gaza border. Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on Saturday and fired rockets at the southern and central parts of the country. The death toll from Hamas rocket and ground attacks passed 300 by Sunday, with 1,864 other Israelis reported injured.
'Times of Israel' quoted officials as saying that many Israelis were taken hostage in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Hamas, claiming that it has started a terrible war and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will use its full force to destroy their capability.
Netanyahu posted on Twitter, "Hamas attacked Israeli territory this morning, on the morning of the holiday and Shabbat, and murdered innocent civilians, children and the elderly. Hamas started a brutal war. We will win this war, but "We will have to bear a heavy price for this. This is a very difficult day for all of us."
The Israeli Prime Minister said, "Hamas wants to murder us all. It is an enemy that kills children and mothers in their beds in their homes. An enemy that abducts the elderly, children and girls. Killers that kill our Killing civilians and children who go out for leisure."
He said that after what happened in Israel on Saturday, he will ensure that it does not happen again. Earlier on Sunday, the IDF said that Israeli warplanes targeted the residence of the intelligence chief of the terrorist group Hamas and a military installation in Gaza.
