State Department issues global security alert due to escalation of war against Iran
The United States military offensive in Iran is far from over and that is why the State Department issued a global security alert
Because the war between the United States and Iran has intensified after seven days of intense bombing carried out in different parts of Iranian territory, the Department of State (DOS) issued a security alert addressed to all its citizens scattered around the world.
"The security environment remains complex, with potential for unforeseen escalation. We remind Americans in the region of the need to remain cautious and encourage them to stay abreast of the latest news.
The State Department advises Americans around the world, especially in the Middle East, to exercise extreme caution,” says part of the letter.
The concern of the US government is that Iran continues with its strategy of not confronting US troops directly.
Feeling punished by the enemy bombings, the Tehran government focuses its response on countries in the region that have allied themselves with the interests of Donald Trump.
The Central Command of the United States Armed Forces (Centcom) announced that through an attack carried out with ballistic missiles and drones, the Iranian army surprised a US military base located in Jordan.
In addition to causing the death of two soldiers, the offensive left four more injured and one missing.
From this, the DOS emphasizes in its statement that, from now on, any point in the world where American citizens are could be the target of an Iranian attack.
"US diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Groups supporting Iran could attack other US interests abroad or places related to the United States and/or US citizens around the world," the document underlines.
To add further tension to what is happening in the Middle East, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, warned that the United States would face “unforgettable consequences” if it insisted on continuing with the American bombings.
Unlike the first weeks of the war, by order of Trump, the military offensive in Iranian territory is now focusing on critical infrastructure, that is, bridges and railways, with the aim of isolating cities.
