The Iranian Army announced on Sunday that it attacked two US military bases in Kuwait with drones, in response to US bombings against its territory, according to state television. It carried out “large-scale attacks with kamikaze drones against a US Army ammunition depot at Camp Udairi and a Patriot radar and air surveillance system at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait,” according to a statement released on Telegram by Iranian state television.

“Kuwait's air defenses are currently facing hostile attacks with missiles and drones, following the disastrous Iranian aggression,” declared the Kuwaiti Army, while an AFP journalist reported that warning sirens were sounding in Kuwait City. “The Army General Staff indicates that if explosions are heard, it is because the air defense systems are intercepting the attacks,” the Kuwaiti Army said in a brief statement on X.

Only American ally attacked today

The Kuwaiti Armed Forces did not identify the locations that have been targeted by Iran's actions or whether they suffered damage. Kuwait was the only country in the Persian Gulf hit by Iran tonight, after Bahrain and, later, Jordan were also hit yesterday.

Yesterday, Centcom reported that two US soldiers were killed and a third is missing in Jordan due to Iranian attacks. These were the first American casualties recorded in the conflict since the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington broke down last week.

Tehran renews its threats against Washington

Iran's main military command center warned the United States this Sunday that any new action of "aggression, intimidation or barbarism" will receive a "forceful and devastating" response from the Iranian Armed Forces, amid the military escalation between both countries.

“Any act of ambition, intimidation, totalitarianism and barbarism will face a forceful and devastating response from the believing, brave and powerful combatants of the Armed Forces, and we will impose higher costs on them than those of the second and third imposed war,” said the commander of the Jatam al Anbiya Central Headquarters, Major General Ali Abdolahi, in a statement collected by the Tasnim agency. “The defeat of the Great Satan, the criminal United States, depends on internal cohesion,” he added.

The statement came a day after Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, accused the United States of repeatedly violating the commitments made in the memorandum of understanding signed between both countries in mid-June and warned that the Islamic Republic has "unforgettable lessons" for Washington.
