The Asian athlete has written his name in the Guinness Book of Records on different occasions
Liu Weiqiang, an athlete of Chinese origin, managed to establish a new world record in the history of the sport of weightlifting. He managed to lift 319 pounds (or 144.72 kilograms) with a single finger and for a time of 10 seconds.
This powerful lift led him to officially enter the Guinness Book of World Records. His historic power in his hands places him among the most outstanding strength athletes internationally.
The Asian impressed with the amount of pounds reached, but also by the difference in time with respect to the previous one. At 29 years of age, he surpassed Egmond Molina, with a difference of more than 13 pounds.
In this way, Weikiang consolidates himself as a reference in extreme lifting disciplines. The Guinness Book of World Records detailed the process and difficulty of the lift, underscoring the magnitude of the challenge faced by the Chinese athlete.
To set the record, Weiqiang used a carabiner attached to a post capable of holding six plates: four of 25 kilograms and two of 20 kilograms, according to Men's Health.

The Chinese athlete held the carabiner with the finger of his left hand, maintained a posture that allowed him to maintain balance in order to lift the load from the ground to the air, while controlling the ascent second by second until stabilizing the weight before bringing it back to the ground.

After the feat, he indicated that his path to the records was not planned. "I simply wanted to share my training process on social media," he said. This isn't the first time he's managed to rank among the best in history. In 2023, Weiqiang earned eight Guinness World Records titles in various strength disciplines. These included the pull-up with the heaviest added weight (109.2 kilograms), the dip with the heaviest load (154.2 kilograms), and the heaviest ring muscle-up in one repetition (44.2 kilograms extra).
