Iran acknowledges progress in negotiations with the United States, but says an agreement is not imminent
Iranian authorities assure that negotiations are currently focused on ending the war and not on the Iranian nuclear program
Iran stated this Monday that the signing of an agreement with the United States is not imminent, despite progress in peace negotiations, due to what it considered "frequent changes" in the positions of US officials.
“It is true that we reached conclusions on many issues under discussion, but that does not mean that the signing of an agreement is imminent,” said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Bagaei, at a press conference.
The spokesperson also reiterated that the negotiations are currently focused on the end of the war and not on the Iranian nuclear program, an issue that will be discussed within 60 days after the memorandum of understanding negotiated by both parties, he stated.
